String quartet music in the romantic 19th century tradition. Expertly performed by the best string quartet in the Pacific. This collection of songs was written by Hawaii's
last reigning monarch who was an accomplished composer, writing over 160 songs. During her lifetime, many of these were published and distributed world wide as sheet music, the most famous being Aloha Oe. Included on this CD are 17 songs arranged for strings
by well known Hawaii and mainland composers. The Galliard String Quartet plays The Queen's songs beautifully, delivering sweet melodious music that is soothing and warm. On three selections the quartet is augmented with harp.
